  • Greetings!

I hope you had a nice quiet Thanksgiving holiday. I apologize for having not sent a November issue. I got so involved in various things, that by the 10th time I had kicked myself for it, November was gone!

Having said that, one big reason for being so busy is in this issue...

    Developments

In the last issue, I mentioned beginning work on a project to create 3D models of the human form to use in future imagery. I did make quite some progress, but as I said, and as you might imagine, the details are a lot of work. I did put that project on hold though, and hope to resume work on it soon.

The big news is a new endeavor: Customized Software! I've begun building some specialized programs for Windows. As this progresses, I'll be designing a new section at the website for this. When folks have a special need, or "gee. I wish I had a tool that could..", I can develop a quick solution. Also, I'll be posting more software for general use and needs, such as my new Spam Blocker Mail Filter, which I'll tell you about below!

Is there a custom tool you wish you had for your Windows system? Let me know! Perhaps I can build it for you.

Now, be certain to find out about Roosl's Mail Filter!

    My two cents
I've often written a tirade here about spam, fraud and the related abuse the internet and we, its users and hopeful contributors, deal with.

I'll not go there this issue. Instead, I'll tell you about a new tool I've developed, and hope you find an interest in it. Better yet, that you'll find it also helps you to laugh off the spam, and perhaps you'll like it enough to tell everyone you know about it.

If we don't hear from each other this month, I pray you and yours have a wonderful holiday season!

This section is where usually I put my two cents, and I welcome and appreciate your opinions and feedback. Please don't hesitate to let me know what you think, whether it's about this newsletter, the website, or anything else!

    Roosl's Mail Filter
We would all like to stop junk mail before it gets to our PC, right? Have you wished you could see what garbage was on the mail server, so that you could delete it before you start your e-mail client? Would you like to have it deleted from the server, but also know exactly what got deleted? Would you like to know what mail was out there before you start your client, so you could decide whether to even start your client? Would it also be cool to know when "preferred" senders had sent you something, even if your client wasn't running? How about if you could block spam with a simple, easily accessible list in a text file, and if you could block spam subjects with wildcards? Me too! Hey, enough wishing...

I've tried several things in the past with my e-mail client, and always waited for it to download a bunch of garbage before I could even see what "blocking rules" I wish I had first. I recently tried a filter program that I wasn't confident with, and I couldn't see exactly what it was doing. So, I decided to write my own! About a week into that, I decided to develop it into a complete filter program that others would want to have, and make it one that addressed all my wishes, and is easy to use.

So... Here it is, Roosl's Mail Filter! A complete, feature rich e-mail filter and spam blocker. It includes an extensive detailed user guide, built in dial up networking support, and is just pretty darn cool (if I do say so myself)!

I hope you'll check it out. Read all about it, and even review the user guide online. Then try it! You'll like it! Let me know what you think!

    Contest?
Last Issue's contest: Name the artist who penned the poem which appears at the bottom of my "About" page. Answer: Graham Edge (drummer for The Moody Blues)

Here is this issue's contest: Who designed the sets and creature in the movie "Alien"?

The first person who e-mails the correct answer wins a free license for the full version of Roosl's Mail Filter! I will announce the winner in the next newsletter (unless you wish to remain anonymous)!

    Kudos to God
As always, make a time and space for God...

Forever grateful to God for His given blessings, I can't say enough about what His presence and meaning are to me in my daily life...

If God is your co-pilot, swap seats.
