Silence is Golden... ...Best Wishes from the Desert
December 1, 2004

Greetings!

Perhaps you've thought that Roosl dropped you like a bad habit.

Well, I have dropped a few bad habits, but unfortunately, you're not one of them!

Golden is my silence of late only because the reason is I've just been too busy!

I've finally decided to sit down here and get a missive out to you people just to let you know I do think about you from time to time. As well, I've let some news get stale which I'll dust off and offer some actual news for your Holiday season.

Speaking of holidaze, I hope your times and trials since our last contact have been good. With the passing of Thanksgiving here in the land of the free, and the approaching Hanukkah and Christmas season, allow me to offer my best wishes to you and yours!

  • Silence is Broken

After working from home for the last couple of years, I am reminded that having an outside day gig with a long commute leaves one often too tired (or is it just lazy?) to devote such coveted time to one's desired tasks.

Hence, I haven't spent as much time here, and most days I just check the mail (actually, the filter deletes most of that from the server). I do post updates to the website now and again, so you needn't spend so much time on Ebay and otherwise succumb your mind to rot elsewhere. Come on over for a visit now and then!

Anyway, it took awhile to get used to the new, old routine again, ya know?

Lately though, I've been working up to some weekend time to devote to a newsletter, and now, finally a quick how-do-you-do-whazzup.

One bit of news here is another household move, though, so I definitely want to get out this little shout before I must embark on that next exciting logistics project!

So, between now and the next time, have a wonderful holiday season!

In honor of the daily grind, I offer this work I did awhile back, entitled "The Office".

    Here is another one.

    Software News

Roosl's WhoIs/Web Utility provides methods of identifying who web addresses belong (or are registered) to. As well, using information such as URLs (links), e-mail addresses, e-mail headers and domain names, you can see where information really comes from, and where URLs really take you when you click on them, and even read the web page's source code to see what it might be doing (such as malevolent javascript) other than displaying information.

NEW! This program actually came about as a result of my investigation into (and curiosity about) fraudulent "phishing" spam e-mail. As part of the user guide (as examples of real use), I share with you the actual e-mail data and the steps used with this software to delve into the origin of the mail and how the thieves "hijack" your browser and a major bank's website.
Read all the details and review the extensive user guide.

    Extreme Cutover

Well, the cutover of the domain to the new servers (and provider) this Summer went fairly well. I don't know if you noticed or not, but we did have a couple of issues.

I did have to "fail" back to my St. Louis provider because my new e-mail service was broken. After that was fixed, and the cutover was finally smooth, the new server had a problem, and the site disappeared for a short time!

All in all, though, these guys are really cool. Thanks to everyone at ExtremeZone and also to AccessUS in St. Louis for many years of great service!

    Time and Space

    God,

With all the Universe in your care,
With all the more important problems that demand your Love on this Spaceship Earth,
As insignificant as my needs are in the Grand Scheme of your design,
Thank you, with all my heart for your Time and Blessings!

Forever grateful to God for His given blessings, I'll never say enough about what His presence and meaning are to me in my life...

See you in 2005! Be careful out there!
    -Roosl

    Roosl is Moving! (again?)

Again? Yeah! This time though, it isn't across the country. We're just moving up the highway a bit.

For various good reasons, one of which has to do with the proverbial daily commute, we're starting the new year in Chandler, Arizona. Relevant info will be passed along and posted on the Contact page!
    Eye see you
