Greetings!
Reflected in the colors I chose for this issue is the very
cold and gray time we're having here in the midwest
USA! Oh, well, we had a mild winter until a couple of
weeks ago, so I suppose we're due, eh?
Well, grab your warm mouse and a comfy seat and join
me for another profound and exciting issue of
everyone's favorite monthly respite...
Developments
New Software! I've had a lot of busy fun making more tools for my
system, and some are just cool enough to post in the
Custom Software section for you to download!
Find out more below, then check out all the tools and
toys you may download free!
New Imagery in the Gallery! A while ago, I mentioned that I was working on a 3D
model of a person, having done robots, aliens, and
disappointed attempts at human-like models. Well, I
finally have something to show you. I spent many hours
developing the many objects, textures, shaders and
such. The new model includes individual eyelashes,
eyes and eyelids that move, and individual fingernails,
just to mention a few details!

My two cents |
 |
|
There is a fury of late regarding the issue of "Intelligent
Design", the latest in a long line of arguments regarding
evolution vs. creation. Frankly, I like this new
label, "Intelligent Design".
I have always felt, in the argument between
these "opposing" views, that they're BOTH right. Yes,
God created us, and everything else. But it wasn't in an
instant "poof" that a smooth skinned human appeared!
At least, not as we define "instant". Natural selection is
the term a fairly bright guy named Charles Darwin
coined and applied to what he observed and how he
understood his observations. Science and religion have
always observed and interpreted this same One
Intelligent Design (from a supreme and perfect
intelligence at that). The problem is that only the
Designer fully understands the design, and the plan.
Mankind's desire is to know and understand in a single
lifetime this design that continues to unfold, and those
who shout loud enough or write in the right places find
the rest of us in agreement or not, and wondering too,
who is right? Does it matter?
Imagine how the minds of those first students (then
teachers) would have been blown if they were told, or
even now, if we were told outright how all these things
and mysteries (we shall one day know) came to be.
Jesus said He will return in the "twinkling of an eye".
God created all in six "days". Humans as humans can't
handle the truth. Our feeble minds must have faith in
symbolic explanation, told as if to a child, or simple
acceptance of the wonder of it all. What an Intelligent
Design indeed, this infinite universe and how our
significant and unique species and all the others (seen
and unseen) came to be...
This section is where I usually put my two cents, and I
welcome and appreciate your opinions and feedback.
Please don't hesitate to let me know what you think,
whether it's about this newsletter, the website, or
anything else!

Custom Software |
 |
The software section sports information about my
Custom Software service, as well as software I post for
anyone to use. Many are utilities and such that are
free for you to download.
New Item:
Even Monk would love this one! It may seem
frivolous to some of us, but many folks want or need to
keep their desktop layout in a consistent state. If you
get annoyed having to resize and drag your favorite
windows back to where you want them after someone
else moved them around, or an application doesn't put
its window where you want it, this program will
remember each of these windows, its desktop location
AND size you prefer, and keep them there. Check out
Roosl's Desktop Manager. Lots of options and features,
such as saving desktop preferences so that you may
switch between different settings for users, projects
and situations.
Also new this month:
Roosl's All-in-One Text Utility.
Those who know me will probably note here how much I
miss some handy UNIX commands. This utility program
provides several text manipulation tools with an easy to
use interface. It allows you to perform all of these
operations on text: Sorting, stream editing, pattern
(string) matching, and extracting delimited fields. You
may even have the output of each operation become
the input to the next, providing a "pipeline" of editing
ease! I should ask a license fee for this one. Get it
while it's free!
Check back often for new stuff, as well as
enhancements and updates to stuff you already have!
Check out the Software section and FREE stuff!

Having done robots, aliens, and disappointed attempts
at human-like models, I recently decided to spend the
time and effort on a model of a person. Over a period of
months, I spent many hours developing the many
objects, textures, shaders and such. At last, this model
includes individual eyelashes, eyes and eyelids that
move, and individual fingernails, just to mention a few
details! I created the model so that anatomy could be
alternated between the male and female forms.
These images contain partial nudity, but these folks are
decent, if not beautiful. My first models are generic,
Anglo-type folks. As time permits, I plan to add more
human elements to future work, develop more variation
of body types and to represent more of our human
family. As well, I'll design some clothing for them to
wear!
In addition to the human form, I'm also creating some
realistic scenes, such as rooms and spaces which
include many fine details. In these new works, observe
the many details such as tissue (in a box and on a roll),
swirling steam in the shower and brushes with individual
bristles in the bathroom scenes.
There are five new images this month. I hope you enjoy
them!

Contest? |
 |
Last Issue's contest: In the cycling (lower) frame at Roosl's Graphic Design,
an image appears along with the "last update"
and "copyright". What is the origin of that image?
Answer: It's a painting found on the cover of the
album "Every Good Boy Deserves Favour", by The
Moody Blues (1971).
Here is this issue's contest: What was the name of the publisher of Zap and Hytone
Comix?
The first person who e-mails the correct answer wins a
free license for the full version of Roosl's Mail Filter! I
will announce the winner in the next newsletter (unless
you wish to remain anonymous)!
No one even guessed at last month's quiz. I know at
least three folks on my mailing list who should know
that one! I guess I need to make these easier?
