A Little bit of Good Stuff ..keep it down to a Dull Roar
November 13 2006

Greetings, Roosl,

I have just a little news and catching up to do (finally), and I also want to welcome you new subscribers.

Again I claim to have been very busy at the full time day gig, but I do have some fruitful efforts on design and software work via Roosl's Graphic Design I want to let you know about.

I have good news regarding software updates, but all the artwork I expended time toward was for some animation and graphic work for a few private deliverables and some fun stuff for my team at Wells Fargo.

I do hope this finds you well, and however you find the time of year where you are, I hope you enjoy the autumn and the approaching holidays.

  • Looking Back, yet Forward

    OK, What is it?

In the last issue I posted this small image in remarking the events and passing of the last 10 years. Do you know what it is?

It's our home planet Earth, as seen from Voyager when it was leaving our solar system.

Keep on truckin' 'cause time keeps on slippin'...

    So.. Onward, eh?

I've released some very nice upgrades to many of my software offerings, and done some work on new developments not quite ready for prime time..

As part of Roosl's Graphic Design's 10th anniversary, I've had a couple of free offers posted (did you miss them?), and currently have another in my Software pages!

So, check out the news and views and please visit soon and often!

    Software Update

Significant upgrades of Roosl's software packages are now available. While you may not have a version of a particular release below, I've combined all the update news in this letter (and hey, perhaps you want to try one you don't have!)...

Roosl's Mail Filter 4.0 has many performance improvements.. New in this release...

    • Enhanced startup, preview scanning and rule parsing.
    • New, detailed load and scan progress indicators.
    • Improved rule memory management.
    • Improved rule parsing provides better speed during each scan.
    • Each scan remembers new messages, providing more improved speed in subsequent scans.
    • Several features that were disabled during the free trial in previous versions are now always functional.
    • Bundled blocking rules (which I've been building for 3 years now) include many new offshore IP address ranges and effectively block more than 85% of spam from those domains.
    • Several annoyance (bug) fixes.
Copious details regarding these and other important features are in the updated description/download page and included in the bundled (also improved) user guide.

This is the best yet. If you haven't tried it, go grab a 30 day free trial. If you have it, go grab an upgrade!

Many other programs have also been updated.

    New in all releases...

    • All have improved installation, registration and setup (including allowance for your non-existent C: drive).
    • All have performance improvements.
    • Various minor bug (annoyance) fixes.
Don't forget to check out all the software selections in my Custom Windows Software section! And remember.. Support is always just an e-mail away!

Please see the details and many features of each these programs at the updated description/download page. Download links will also be found there.

Notice: Similar to how anti-spam software can sometimes mistake valid e-mail as spam, some anti- spyware programs can mistake benign software as spyware. A recent release of one vendor's spyware definitions mistook one of my distributions as such. I assure you that I will never release such software. If your anti-spyware program thinks that anything you have from me is such, you may confidently flag it as "ignore", or "keep" (depending on your anti- spyware settings). You have my promise that there is no malicious code! The current upgrades have not caused any new false alarms.

    Oh, yeah.. the Gallery

OK, so when was the last time you kept your new year's resolution? I actually did spend some time on imagery since my last notes, but alas, it was not toward my online gallery.

I do see that most visitors spend most time viewing the gallery, and each week as I read the reports of my site visitors (hits, pages and images viewed), I make another mental note to get some new work done!

I do still have plans for some new artwork. I know I just need to wrap up these other projects and prioritize some fun time! Oh, wait, it's all fun.. but still...

    Time and Space

    God,

While we worry and complain, while we want and wish, while we waste so much time and effort selfishly...

Thank You for your guidance and the opportunities that guidance has provided, and for your forgiveness.. As I don't need times and things past and sometimes worry needlessly about tomorrow.

Thank You for the times and things that are passed, and for the tomorrow that my time today, and the perspective you show me will bring.

Forever grateful to God for His given blessings, I'll never say enough about what His presence and meaning are to me in my life...

See you soon! Be careful out there and have a wonderful holiday season!
    -Roosl

    Eye see you

    On the Side

    Hey, here's an idea...
You know how people are always forwarding bad jokes, hoaxes, scams and chain letters via e-mail?

I'm thinking it would really great if you forwarded this newsletter to all your friends!

Just don't go telling them that I'll track this e-mail and give them $25,000, because that's just wrong.
